What skills do you hope to develop: Reader’s advisory; how to effectively interact with and meet the reference needs of a diverse user population

Activities and experiences that will lead to meeting this objective: Shadowing at the reference desk, working at the reference desk



Learning Objective 2: I will be able to coordinate and carry out relevant adult programming that meets the needs and interests of a diverse community.

What skills do you hope to develop: Program planning; program implementation; program assessment

Activities and experiences that will lead to meeting this objective: Assisting with the monthly book club and Adult Summer Reading Program; assisting with seed library programming; assisting with Bubbler Programming and other adult programming



Learning Objective 3: I will be able to effectively carry out Spanish-language library service needs assessment work.

What skills do you hope to develop:  Spanish-language collection development; community needs assessment

Activities and experiences that will lead to meeting this objective:  Analysis of usage statistics for the current SMB Spanish-language collection; analysis of current Spanish-language services offered by both SMB and other organizations in the area




Learning Objective 4:  I will be able to use Facebook to effectively promote library events, services, and Friends Group Membership.

What skills do you hope to develop: Library “marketing;” professional social media use

Activities and experiences that will lead to meeting this objective:  Creation and maintenance of a Friends of the Goodman South Madison Branch Facebook page.
